Swell Matrix is a collection of forecasts for buoys around the world. Buoys can be as close as a mile or several hundred miles offshore. This means the waves in the forecast are what is happening in the ocean, not a specific beach.

While this may seem like a disadvantage at first, it has several benefits for surfers. Every surfer knows:
- Some surf spots are bigger / better than others on a given day
- Tides make a huge difference on surf height and quality
- Wave period and direction are key factors in a spot going off
- Forecasts are never exactly right.
With that in mind, Swell Matrix is focused on getting you the information you need, quickly and easily. With one glance, you can use your own local knowledge to choose when and where to surf (Yeah, wind is important too- we’re working on that). When it is time to surf you can check the live buoy data and make sure you are headed in the right direction.
